• Access: Ski area via Granada. From the main Granada ring road (Circunvalación) follow the well signposted mountain road to Sierra Nevada (A-395). This leads to the main ski resort at Pradollano
• Start: Hoya de la Mora.  At km30 and just before entering the resort turn left following signs to Hoya de la Mora and Albergues de Granada. At km35 and at 2500m altitude, the road ends. There are car parks on either side of the road
• End: Same as start

Dramatic mountain walls & narrow paths lead to one of the best mountains in the Sierra Nevada, Cerro de los Machos. Return via a circular path round Veleta

Route Description

From the Hoya de la Mora ascend to Posiciones de Veleta. Then a steep drop into the spectacular Corral de Veleta via the Veredon Superior, cross the dramatic cirque and climb to Cerro de los Machos (3329m), one of the best viewpoints in the Sierra Nevada.

Then drop down to the old road to the SW and traverse to the Col de Carijuela via the short passage “Paso de las Guias”. From here descend to Lagunillas a series of beautiful small lakes before traversing past the Laguna de las Yeguas and a return to the ski area and start point.
